The senior and junior championship finals will be played on Thursday. The senior match between Tukapa and Hawera will be played at Stratford, and the junior match, Elthani v. Clifton, will be played at Elthani. The net proceeds of the junior game will be handed over by the Eltham Club to the Sick and Wounded Soldiers 1 Fund. The senior final will take place on the Showgrounds. As it is the first senior game in Stratford this year, a large attendance should be present.
A meeting was bold in the Fire Brigade Station last night to draw up a programme for the "Hard-up" Social and torch-light procession to be held early in September ni the Town Hall in aid of the Fire Brigade funds. The programme for the after-
noon session contains some very novel items, 'amongst which are: Comic football match (20 a-side) ; ladies' and
gents' hockey match ("B.\" a-sic
cigar and umbrella cycle race for trophy presented by Messrs Mcßain and Cbilds; fancy costume ring race atrophy presented by Lieutenant A. J. Davey). In the evening a, torchlight procession and social will be held, when prizes will be given for the best fancy dress (both gentleman's
and lady's), and best "hard-up" dress for ladies and gentlemen.
