DUDLEY CAMERON'S FUNERAL. Thr funeral of Rifleman Dudley Cameron wa,s held yesterday afternoon. and was a military one, some two hundred Territorials, Home Defenders, Cadets, and Boy Scouts parading under Lieutenant Gray. At about two o’clock the troops marched off from the school ground to proceed to the Methodist Church in Began Street. After a short service, the collin was liorne by six territorial pali-bearers from the church and placed on a draped motor lorry. As the coffin was placed on the lorry th* Municipal Hand struck vp “The Gar- | land of Flowers,’’ and the cortege moved off. After the hearse came a 'ear full of wreaths, then the duet mourners, and after them the troops. A large gathering of the public attended at the church, and many followed the procession to the Kopuutama Cemetery. The cortege was a very long one, there being many cars, gigs and a large number of pedestrians. On arrival at the cemetery, a hollow square was lined by the firing party and the remainder of th ■ Territorials. By this time, the public bad arrived in largo numbers —a manifestation of the sympathy felt for the young man who had really died in the service of his King and Country. Cap-tain-Chaplain Reader conducted the ceremony at the graveside. When the coffin was lowered into the grave, three rounds were fired by the firing party, the Last Post sounded, and the body of the young man was in it’s last haven of rest. Impressive, sad, and moving was the scene at the graveside of the young soldier, and when the ceicmony was over many a heart was heavy and full.
