ITALIAN BRAVES. CARRYING A FORLORN HOPE. United Press Association. (Received 9.15 a.m.) , Rome, July 25. In the attack on Gorizia", a Colonel of an Infantry regiment called for volunteers in an almost forlorn hope assault to break mined entanglement before the enemy trenches. The Austrian troops engaged were brought Iron) the Carpathians owing to their experience in defensive warfare. Both sides lost heavily, especially the Austrians. An order lias been issued that (jorizia must be defended to the last. it is understood in Budapest all preparations have been made for evacuation, the authorities desiring to prevent damage.
