"MERRIE ENGLAND.”
The local amateurs journeyed to New Plymouth yesterdays and gave a performance there lost evening. The very had weather no doubt counteracted against n packed house,- hut a very fair audience was present. All the items were heartily applauded, and. generally speaking .those of the audience who ho re in mind that the production was one hy amateurs, spoke ’well of the work done. The perlormance given in New Plymouth is the best .vet clone by the Society, and those who saw the first performance Jiere can judge, for themselves the merit of hist night’s effort. Miss ■Greenhalgh was again very successful. and her performance was •Vasily one of the best amateur performances yet seen in New Plymouth. Mr Frank Hanford was again successful in his part, and his light comedy caused uproars ol laughter, and put the audience in good form. 'Hie Wounded Soldiers’ Fund should lie augmented hy a fair amount from ,the production.
