In the Air

A BATTLE ON THE THAMES.

A SENSATIONAL REPORT

United Press Association. New York. .1 nlv 22

Messages from London report that three German Tavibes were destroyed during an air battle with twelve British aeroplanes, at the month of the Thames. The Germans intended to raid the English coast, but observers warned the British aviators, who attacked in pairs, cutting off their retreat. Thousands of spectators saw two Taubes plunge into the sea. The following day boats found a “bird” German machine with its occupants strapped in their seats and bullet holes in their heads. A fourth Taube is also reported to have been lost.
