STRATFORD CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
TheiSbnvtford Chamber of Commerce met on Wednesday evening. A good attendance was .recorded,- Mr 'J. B. Richards presiding. It was resolved to forward the following remit to tlie Conference of Cham hers of Commerce to he held shortly in Wellington :—That the attention of the Government be directed to tlie minutes of evidence regarding freight discrimination given before the Dominion iloyl Commission in 1918, and appearing on pages 105 and 121 and elsewhere in a hlue-hook printed as CD 7170. '• and that the Government he urged to place same before the next Imperial Conference with a view to promoting some action likely to diminish or abolish the advantage 'which such freight discrimination obviously confers on foreign manufacturers.
It was resolved to write to the Postmaster at Stratford complaining nf the slow manner in which the mails are sorted in the evenings. It was resolved to request the Borough Council to extend the brick area in Broadway from Fenton Street and from Began Street to Seyton Street. It was resolved to further urge on the Council the necessity of removing the remains of Wake’s Building on account of the unsightliness, of the premises at present.
The President will act as delegate to the Wellington Conference and will put before the Conference several matters of importance to Stratford.
