APPROACHING TRIESTE

The Italians have captured Monte .Mouticello. Alpini, roped together! descended several thousand feet to the valley, from whence, late in the even,ug, they began the ascent of Monticello. climbing a perpendicular side by starlight, and thus approaching the unsuspecting Austrians. Only two Austrians escaped. The position has been consolidated, and will greatly assist the attack upon Port Daccarino. The Italians are only 30 kilometres from Trieste.

ITALIANS GAINING GROUND. United Press Association. Home, July 11. Official: A strong enemy force of Infantry attempted to surprise our positions at Maljaleno, in the Decno Talley, but completely failed. One of our detachments pushed forward to Terragolo Valley, and iiy the Adige we captured positions at Malgasarta and O'stahella, dominating the valley. We repulsed two strong attacks at the head of Frauza Valley, in Upper Cardevole. Our Alpini daringly scaled Mount Ofana, and surprised the enemy, who were entrenched in Travonauzes Valley, taking twenty prisoners. An artillery duel is proceeding at Isonzo.
