Rheims holds the record as the heaviest bombarded town in'Europe. It lias been bombarded on 288 occasions, and often by three thousand shells daily.
In the French Senate M. Millerand stated that since August the French output of munitions had increased sixfold. France was determined to pursue her enemies, no matter what arms were employed.
Homo reports that the Pope has rewived a letter from the Emperor Franss Josef, promising that aviators will not bombard Rome. This is in reply to the Pope's message that Rome most he respected, because it is the world's repository of church treasures and Christian souvenirs.
Geneva reports that Bulgarian officers and students in Switzerland have been recalled to the colors.
In the House of Commons Mr McKenna introduced an important Bill in connection with the war loan, to enable trustees to borrow sufficient money to purchase in the war loan and thus convert Consols and the old war loan. He pointed out that trustees were able after conversion to sell
enough of the loan to cover the money 'borrowed. The Bill wa« read a second time.
