THE RECRUITING CAMPAIGN.

In the House Mr Fisher, in reply to suggestions as to pushing the recruiting campaign, said that if the Parties were agreeable they could pair, and thus allow some of the members to assist the recruiting without interfering with their Parliamentary work. Mr Fisher undertook not to introduce tariff or contentious legislation during the truce.
Asked if he would follow the example of. New Zealand Parlaiment in forming a committee to deal with war matters, Mr Fisher pointed out that the Parties there were practically even.
THE METAL INDUSTRIES.

The Federal Government, is taking steps to develop the metal industries, and insure that the output reaches British hands.
CRASSTREE CUM FOR EXPLOSIVES. (Received 9.50 a.m.) Sydney, July 2. ft transpires that the Germans have for years largely bought Australian grasstree gum, from which an expert states an explosive far more powerful than dynamite can be produced.
