SUBMARINE VICTIMS. NORWEGIAN VESSEL BURNT. United Pbem Association. (Received 9.20 a.in.) London, dime 25. The Norwegian steamer Truma. from Archangel to London, was torpedoed and burnt off the Shetlands. The crew were saved. V.C. FOR SUBMARINE EXPLOITS. CREW’S SERVICES RECOGNISED. (Received 12.10 p.m.) London, dime 25. Lieut. -Commander (Nasmith lias been awarded the Victoria Cross for his submarine exploit in the' Sea of Marmora, in sinking one large Turkish gunboat, two transports, one ammunition ship, and three storeships, in addition to driving one storeship ashore, and when he had passed the most difficult part of the homeward journey, he returned and torpedoed a Turkish transport. Distinguished Service Crosses were awarded Lieutenant Doyle Hughes, and ActingLieutenant Robert Brown, naval reservist. and each of the crew receives the Distinguished Service Medal.
GERMAN SUBMARINES IN THE MEDITERRANEAN. New York, June 26. An official message from Tokio states reports from Rome assert that seven German submarines succeeded in entering the Mediterranean through the Straits of Gibraltar. Japanese shipping companies have issued warnings to vessels traversing the Mediterranean to extend their war insurances from Marseilles to Port Said.
