A WORD OF WARNING. Onitid Pscaa Abbocuiioic. (Received 10.55 a.m.) i Sydney, June 26. The military authorities warn tho public regarding cables (from alleged soldiers in Egypt asking for money. Numbers have been received asking for considerable sums, and tins aroused suspicion. It was pointed out that soldiers receive pay and all necessary comforts, and that there is little need for additional cash. NEWSPAPERS FOR SOLDIERS. (Received 10.55 a.m.) Sydney, June 26. A Presbyterian chaplain at Malta writes: “Australian and New Zealand papers are welcomed by the men of both Dominions, at our Island address:—‘Rev. Sims, 205 Strada Forni, Yaletta, Malta.’ ”

(Received 10.00 a.m.) Sydney, June 20. It is rumoured that Mr Hughes will succeed Sir Cl. Reid in London. (Mr Fisher has also been mentioned as a probability for the position.)
