THE SICK AND WOUNDED. QUITE A DIFFERENT STORY. Peb Peers Association. Wangnnni, June 21. Colonel Hughes, in answer to inquiries fabled to Cairo, does not bear out the reports o' the Governor and the Hon., J. Allen. The cable states: "No funds available lor wounded at Cairo, and financial assistance urgently wanted." A similar Tetter had 'previously been received here from Captain Chaplain Blamires, on receipt of Avhich £IOO was* cabled. WAITING THE WOUNDED. - Auckland, June-21. Dr. Valentine'has advised the Hospital Board that 263 wounded will arrive by the WillochrW Some (pro■bably 22). will be sent to Auckland. /The Department looks to the hospitals to provide the necessary accomodation for wounded as they arrive, and adds that the Government will pay the maintenance fee if it is desired. RETURNED FROM SAMOA. Auckland, June 21. Passdngers from Samoa by the Afcua include Captain Roache, of the oth Wellington Regiment, two nurses, nine non-commissioned others and men of the Sampan garrison. Of the nurses, Matron Brooke and Sister Willis are joining the Hospital Ship Maheho. Captain Roache is recovering from typhoid, and Privates E. Foldey, W. J. Barker, J. Davidson, H. J. Roberts, and E. D. Eleock have been invalided home. Staff-Sergeant Hale. Quarter-Master Dyer, Field-Cashier 1). Moroney, and Private wiiitford have been transferred to duty at Wellington. Tile ne\v garrison at Samoa appears to have settled down to work.
