DEFENCE OF THE REALM. BRINGING WORKERS TO REASON <ss AN AGRICULTURAL SCHEME PROPOSED. United Pbiii Association. (Received 9.10 a.m.) London, June 17. \t is understood the Government, with the assent of the" Trade Unions, has resolved to ask for greater powers than new conferred by the Defence of the Realm Act" to deal with labour. Thd new measure will probably be introduced next week, and is intended to increase the mobility of labour and limit: the profit in controlled estab- ' lishments, where -a11... Trade Union restrictions will be abolished and committees appointed to inflict fines for slackness. « The heads of the principal agricultural organisations are preparing a natidnal seherneJ;o organise agriculture and secure increased production by " assuring farmers thiiJb a generous expenditure on fanning will be repaid by remunerative prices. The scheme whieh it is suggested should be largely worked ■on a co-operative basis, should cover fouY years to fix the Government's responsibility for prices and secure the, necessary labor.
