It is not many years since Dr. Cook put forward his claim as having discovered the South Pole. The adventurer’s story was discredited, and rightly so. Agency’s Stratford Office. Mercer’s advertise a lire sale of goods, slightly damaged by water and smoke, commencing to-morrow, when tobacconist’s lines will be sold for half usual prices. Mr H. E. Lawrence, solicitor, advertises money to lend on behalf of clients. ! R. Hannah and Co. advertise their half yearly stock taking and balance and request .settlement of accounts. On page eight of this issue will be found an especially interesting notification to farmers and settlers from Mr G. L. A. Hunt, of Whangarei. Mr T. Lamason notifies that he is now receiving orders for hedge and shelter trees on account of Mr A. S. Hicks, Tikorangi. Particulars of entries for Mr Newton King’s next Saturday’s Haymarket Sale appear in another column. Messrs. R. H. Hannah and Co. notify that they are holding the half yearly stock-taking and balance this month. All accounts must he paid by July 3rd. A special discount is advertised on cash sales.
