POPE'S PROPOSAL FINDS FAVOR (Received 9.10 a.m.) Rome, June 13. The French, German, and Russian Governments have notified their formal consent to the Pope's proposal that sick and wounded prisoners should be interned in Switzerland.

OFFICIAL NEWS. ' The High Commissioner reports:— London June 12 (12.35 p.m.). On Thursday and Friday determined German attacks west of Shavli, on the front Koujilacerakivo—Einroitsky, ac .some points reached our barb-wire back, leaving piles of killed and wounded. On the left bank of the Dubissa, on the Shavli-Anybetigola front, the Russians assumed the offensive, gaining on Thursday an important success, and making five hundred prisoners and capturing guns, mitrailleuses, and other booty. On the right bank of the Dniester on Wednesday and Thursday, the Russians continued to press the enemy between the rivers Tismenica and Sivka, capturing prisoners, quick-firers, and other booty.

An enemy armoured train, and five armed motor cars supporting the infantry in the direction of Stryj, General Mikolaieff was compelled to retreat, and the whole fc>f the fifth company of the seventy-ninth Austrian regiment were made prisoners. On the Golchove-Bdukoezovtoy front, the enemy was completely defeated and thrown across the Dniester, losing severely, including ten guns and eighteen mitrailleuses, as well as prisoners. Rome, June 12. The Italians made progress at certain parts on Friday. Prisoners stated that the enemy endeavoured to take the Italians in the rear in the Montenero region, but their efforts were rendered unsuccessful. The town of Gradisa (near Monfalcone) is solidly in the possession of the Italians.
