STRATFORD BOWLING CLUB
ANNUAL MEETING. The Annual Meeting was held last night in the A. and P. rooms. i Mr G. Smart (retiring President) presided until the election of the new President (Mr J. W. McMillan). THE ANNUAL REPORT. The annual report was as follows : Your Committee have pleasure in reporting a successful past season. Tlie green was much improved in play, and your warden hopes to have it in first-class order for early play next season. There was a slight decrease in playing members, but we hove promise of a number of new members for next season. The Bal-ance-sheet, after writing off £l2 2s 9d for depreciation shows a net profit of £l3 7s lid for the year. The Club was represented at the Wanganui and New Plymouth tournaments, but did not succeed in returning with any of the trophies. Fourteen matches were played against other clubs of the centre, eight of which were won by us. The Buttons presented by Mr T. C. Fookes, and the Osmond Feathers, were played for with the usual enthusiasm. The annual championship for the 0. M. Curtis Trophy, was this year won by Air G. Smart, We regret that owing to the lateness of the season the competition for trophies presented by Mr .1. W. McMillan for beginners was not completed. The thanks of the Club are again due to the Ladies for assisting at afternoon tea, and also to Air T. H. Penn for the use of his office. BALANCE-SHEET. Cr.—By Land £l5O, Impoz-vements on land £21(5 11s sd, Less depreciation £9 15s 9d.—£206 16a Bd‘, Plant £23 17s, Less depreciation /£2 7s.—£2l 10s, Subs unpaid £7 17s 6d, Cash in hand £1 6s 9d.-<—£3B7 9s lid. The Profit and LO3.S Account showed a credit , on the year’s working of £l3 7s lid, which was transferred to the Capital Account. ELECTION OF OFFICERS.
The election of officers for the .veer resulted as follows: ( President: Mr J. W. McMillan. Vice-president: Mr J. Masters. Treasurer: Mr J. McDonald. Auditor: Mr T. H. Penn. Secretary: Mr S. M. Porritt. Committee: Messrs Hartley, Smart, Martin, Leversedge, and F. McDonald. Club’s Solicitor: Mr T. C. Fook'es. Delegates to Centre: Messrs G. Smart and J. Masters. GENERAL. The meeting strongly favoured the adoption of the two-feet-on-the-mat play. The delegates were recommended to support the principle that the banner competititons he by challenge. it was decided by ballot that no intoxicating liquor bo allowed on the green. Votes of thanks were passed to the President and all office-bearers, the ladies, the Press, and all voluntary workers. A vote of thanks to the A. and P. Association for the use of the rooms was also carried.
