STRATFORD HOSPITAL BOARD.
MONTHLY MEETING. • At the meeting of the Board this morning, there wore present; Messrs Jas. McAllister, C. 1). Sole, 11. McK. Morison, ill. Hine, A. Meredith, F. Walter, J. Christoff el and J. Smith. A letter was received asking the Board’s co-operation in urging that the State indent all surgical appliances and drugs to supply the hospitals at landed price.—lt was resolved to take ( no’ action. It was reported that the suspected cases of typhoid and scarlatina at Kohuratahi and Midhirst were not genuine cases. A circular was read from the In-spector-General regarding the care ol wounded and sick troopers, and suggesting that the Board invite citizens to offer private houses as convalescent homes.—Mr Sole pointed out that the New Plymouth oßard had offered their new hospital buildings to the Government, and that those buildings would accommodate about eighty men. There may not' be need of a home locally.— Tiie Chairman said that he thought it advisable to adopt the circular and invite persons to offer houses, the secretary in the meanwhile to write to the New Plymouth Board regarding the Stratford oßard’s position. The Medical Superintendent reported that sixteen iases had been admitted during the month, seventeen cases discharged, fifteen cases are in the hospital at present. Five operations had been performed. The gardener reported that the garden was in a satisfactory state. The receipts for the two months were £598 18s Bd, and the expenditure £SOO 13s KM.
