King Constaiitine of Greece is in u lair ivny' to complete convalescence. I Major G. F. Hutton, commanding | the lOtli (Nelson) squadron of the Canterbury Mounted Rifle Regiment, lias been slightly wounded. Mr B. S. Chisholm, manager for Levin and Co., Patea, who lias been j indisposed for some time, lias been j ordered to Rotorua by his medical'' advisei'. Mr R. H. Nolan is now in Australia, and in writing from Hobart to :i friend in Hawera. said that he might take a run to Brisbane. He expected to be in Hawera very shortly.
Archbishop Redwood, who.has been )n an extended visit to Europe, is expected to return to New Zealand towards the end of the present month. He is returning from England via America.
The death of the Earl of Jersey, who was 70 years of age, is announced from London. He was Paymaster-General 1889-90, and Governor-General of New South Wales from 1890 to 1893. His heir is Viscount Villiers.
Rev. T. A. Williams, formerly of the Baptist Church, Thames, and latterly of Oamani', has been accepted for service with the Expeditionary Forces, and leaves Now Zealand with the next reinforeemenet draft. He is at present at Trentham.
Mr Mark Cohen, editor of the Ptinedin Star, has been appointed a commissioner to represent the New Zealand Government at the San Francisco Exposition. Mr Cohen, with other journalists from the Dominion, i s at present on his way to San Francisco.
Rifleman R, H. Court, of the 4thj Battalion of the King's Royal Rifles, on the Franco-Belgian front; is reported as suffering from concussion and blindness. Rifleman Court left with the Fiji contingent. He was educated at Mount Eden school, going to the islands two years ago.
Tlip Prime Minister, accompanied by the Hon. W. H. Herries and the Hon. Dr. Pomare, visited Ngaraawahia yesterday morning, and unveiled a memorial to the Waikato soldiers who fell in the Maori war. Afterwards the party went to Hamilton, where Mr Massey opened the "Winter Show. .Mr Massey and Mr Herries returned to Auckland in the the evening, and will he there for a day or two, his movements being indefinite.
