AGRICULTURAL COMPETITIONS.
Mr A. Gray (Technical director), [notified the Taranaki Education Board lon Wednesday, that he intended instituting agricultural competitions for boys not more than 17 years of age, and not attending school. Swede turnip growing competition. —One-qnarter of an acre shall be the area of each plot. The seed shall be supplied by the New Plymouth Technical College, the cultivation and fertilisers to be supplied by competitors. [ Potato growing competition.—Oneeighth of an acre shall he the area of each plot All seed and fertilisers to be supplied by the competitors. Monthly reports are to be supplied by the competitor, giving details of work, conditions prevailing, and any satisfactory circumstances. Points to he awarded as lollows: —Greatest weight of crop, 30 points; greatest profit of crop, 30 points; best exhibit at New Plymouth Winter Show, 20 points; best reports, 20 points; total 100 points. The championship prize shall be a trip either to Palmerston North or to Waikato Winter Show, all expenses paid. Other prizes will be awarded mainly according to the number of entries.
