The Turks appear terrorised by the incessant attacks of the Allies, whose shells are falling like a veritable rain of fire.

COOL AND COLLECTED UNDER FIRE. (Received 11.10 a.m.) Sydney, May 27. Captain Beau, cabling on May 23rd, s ays; After three days’ attack, the Allied infantry took the Turkish positions. The Australian Brigade received an order to be in the lighting column line with the New Zealand Brigade. Four hundred yards ahead lay the British firing trench, in the most advanced position, but not connected by communication trenches. It offered only a scrap of cover for twelve hundred yards. The moment the leading companies appeared they met a steady fire. The operations were carried out calmly a.s if they had been in Egypt. A perfect hail of shrapnel followed, out of which came the infantry as if nothing was happening. They reached the British trench, where they took a breather and then advanced across the open ground. Men were dropping fast for a further five hundred yards, where they dug themselves in and held the position. HOSPITAL SHIP.
