ADELAIDES WATER SUPPLY. (Received 9.50 a.m.) Adelaide, May 3.0. Although recent rains augumented the supply, the Metropolitan water supply still shows a deficiency of six hundred million gallons compared to last year. FIRE IN SYDNEY. (Received 9.50 a.m.) Sydney, May 26. A six-storeyed building owned by the Australian Paper Company was gutted by fire, and several adjacent buildings were damaged. THE DRINK PROBLEM. (Received 10.35 a.m.) Melbourne, .May 20. In the Assembly, in a discussion'on the Temporary Restriction Act, Mr Farthing said that Australians were the most sober people and progressive in all parts of the world. The teetotal party using the tense feeling caused by the war to get a shortening of the hours and final abolition of hotels. The Bill would not stop drinking, but would drive trade into illegitimate channels.
