IN DEFENCE OF THE PATRIOTIC COMMITTEE.
(To The Editor Stratford Post.] Sir, —The proposal to send a hospital ship to the Mediterranean for the use of our sick and wounded men at tlie front is one that will go to the hearts of the people without any flagwaving or heating of big drums, and the fact that £lbO lias been subscribed within thirty-six hours of opening the fund is surely justification for the methods adopted by the Patriotic Committee, and a complete answer to the criticism levelled at the committee by the correspondent in your columns yesterday. As you, Sir, have toueneu on the recruiting question, nothing more need be said, and I should only like to add that the committee are fully alive to the position, being in close touch with the Minister for Defenee concerning this important matter. I am, etc. W. P. KIRKWOOD, Chairman, Stratford Patriotic Committee.
