GOVERNMENT SECRECY. United Press Association. (Received 10.10 a.m.) Melbourne, May 22. In the House, Mr Catts objected to Government secrecy regarding the Expeditionary Forces, and suggested that a secret meeting of Parliament be held, at which Ministers advise members what is transpiring. miscellaneous.
(Received 9.50 a.m.) Melbourne, May 22. In the Senate, the Enemy Contracts Amendment Bill passed all stages. The House discussed the question of the censorship of parliamentary criticisms, which, although censored for the newspapers, were permitted to appear fully in Hansard. Mr Fisher agreed to consult the Opposition respecting the future policy. Mr. Fisher stated last night that the Government had received official intimation of the rupture between Italy and her erstwhile Allies. In an earlier announcement he referred to Italy’s decision to intervene.
