<2> CONSUL ASSASSINATED. WORK OF GERMAN AGENTS. Times and Sydney Sun Seevioe. (Received 8 a.m.) London, May 21. M. Alexander Kaver, Russian Consul at Ispahan, has been assassinated by a gang who were directed by German agents.
Ispahan (or Isfahan) is the ancient capital of Persia. It is situated on the Zendarub River, and has a population of 80,000. It has some very fine buildings and bridges; the most famous building being the Mesjid Shah. Isfahan is well-known for its manufacture of gold brocade, ft is the greatest emporium for trade in Persia, and serves as a medium for trade between India and Turkey. CLEARING OUT THE TURKS. (Received 12.45 p.m.) London, May 21. The Press Bureau states: Recent operations cleared out all the Turks from Persian Arabist an, a province, formerly known as Khirzistan.
