Tlie Times’ Petrograd correspondent savs that the Russian front in South Pilioia has been adjusted, having been unfit. On the' line of the San, the enemy’s advance columns near Opocy.no and Kielce were hurled hack, which will enable the Russians to take up\new positions. The enemy’s main strength is north of Przemysl. The Austrians have re-grouped in Bukowina, where they continue to be defeated, the Prussian Guards, Saxons and Bavarians having lost heavily. In West Galicia the enemy increased their activity in the north, conveying war supplies and long-range guns, and constructing a railway.

On the Baltic coast Russians are fighting stubbornly,and have advanced to Mitau on the line of the WindanDubissa front for sixty-six miles, hurling back the Germans a tremendous distance, and inflicting enormous loss-

The enemy’s losses in the Carpathians in three weeks, including -10,000 who were made prisoners, are officially estimated at one-fourth their total strength. Although the enemy lost only twenty guns, several hundred were abandoned in the old lines.

HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT

The High Commissioner reports, J^ondon,,2lst Hay, (11.5 a.m.): On Tuesday a battle in the region on the left bank of the Vistula south of Pilitiza and along the whole Galician front continued constantly with increasing intensity. New German elements were revealed on the front for first time. On the left of Vistula, west of lloza, Opatow, and Koprionica, and in the region of the confluence of the San with the V istula as far as the environs of Misko, the Russians pressed the enemy successfully. the prisoners taken exceed 1000. Great hostile forces which crossed the San after an Obstinate fight succeeded in spreading over the sector embracing Jaroslav, Pradawa, and Seniawa. In the region of Przemysl and Jaroslav, the Russians pressed the enemy somewhat on both banks of the San. There were detachments of enemy aei'oplafies and bombs at Przemysl .'against 'which place the enemy attempted no other action. South of Przemysl, the enemy attacks were conducted with particular intensity. In the sector of Lupknow-Iwmesi at the river Strwiacz, the enemy succeeded at the cost of enormous sacrifices in capturing several Russian advance trenches. On the front, Drohobycz-Dolina, the Russians continued to repulse the tremendous attack and inflicted immense losses on the enemy. West ol Kilomea, fighting on both banks of the Pruth ou Tuesday night continued to the Russian advantage. In the Shavli region, the Russians continue to push the enemy back on a wide front and have captured hundreds more prisoners. The enemy is offering very stubborn resistance at the village of Kurchang. The fighting is being continued.
