Intervention Approved. DECLARATION AGREED TO BY ITALIAN PARLIAMENT. Times and Sye'lET Sun Service. (Received 12.25 p.m.) u London, May 20. A Paiis correspondent states that the declaration of the Italian Government leading to armed intervention was approved in the Chamber of Deputies by 176 votes to 51. GREEN BOOK REVELATIONS THE RESPECTIVE DEMANDS. (ellceived 9.30 a.m.) t Rome, May 20. A Green Book states; Austria, in exchange for the concessions, demanded that Italy maintain a benevolent neutrality, and allow Austria a free hand in the Balkans and Albania. Italy rejected the condition, and demanded Trentino, the Eastern Frioul, the maintenance of Italian occupation of Valona, also Trieste with the hinterland, and that Istria be made an independent State. Austria refused to give a firm answer. Italy denounced the treaty with Austria on May 4. It is stated that Germany asks Switzerland to protect German interests, and it is evident there has been a rupture owing to anti-German feeling in America following the Lusitania.
MORE GREEN BOOK LEAVES.
(Received 10.30 a.ni.) Romo, May 20. The Green Book further states: Italy on 9th December pointed out to Austria that the latter’s advance into Sorvia violated the Triple Alliance treaty. After the subject had dragged on, Austria on 9th March consented to discuss compensation and counter proposals as cabled earlier, refused immediate cession. Germany on the 20th undertook to guarantee its execution after war. Baron Sonnino demanded concrete proposals, and Austria and Italy made proposals and counter proposals as called earlier. Italy on 2nd April believed that the rumours of separate peace between Austria and Russia had some foundation, and insisted early reply, but Austria refused all the demands except a small portion of Trentino, immediate cession not even being mentioned. The Italian Ambassador on sth April informed the Government that Austria did not believe Italy would light, and on again delaying discussions Italy thereupon closed the negotation. Later she denounced the Treaty on 'the ground that Austria had delivered an ultimatum to Servia without informing Italy, and in contempt of Italy’s advice of moderation, thus disturbing the. status quo in the Balkans and creating the new situation, from which only Austria could hope to profit, TRIAL ARRANGEMENTS.
