Herdman annraneed on behalf of the Government at a patriotic meeting to-night, that His Excellency the Governor had offered the use of Government House at Auckland for wounded soldiers returning to New Zealand. Other offers of a similar nature received by the Government were:—Mr Chas. Izard, of Wellington, the ues of his house at the Upper Hutt; the Hon. H. 1). Bell, the use of three houses at 'Lowry Bay. Wellington; the Hon. R. H. Rhodes, the use of Elmwood, Papanui Road, Christchurch; Mr J. Buckley, the use of his homestead, Red Castle, near Oamaru. NAMES OF THE MEN AT HOME. Wellington, May 17. The Government has decided to send a hospital ship to the Mediterranean. The Governor is appealing to the people of New Zealand for assistance in fitting out the ship.
