Ah officer " Leicestershires writes: The' Canadians were forced to abandon the (i'Oqcis, ( and a wounded man managed to crawl to the main body with the news that a popular major had been crucified, whereupon a subaltern gathered particulars, and the enraged Canadians proposed to recapture the wood. The contagion of courage spread rapidly to the fifth Leicester Territorials and others, and they joined in the attack. When the wood was captured, the Leicester's found one of their men similarly crucified. The courage of the Canadians and the Leicester's resulted in the recapture of four guns.
