RAIN IN AUSTRALIA. Peb PiiEsa Association. Sydney, May 16. The splendid rains are almost general, and have saved the situation in the Riverina and other drought areas. The eastern States also benefited, and Victorian wheat-growers are optimistic of good yields as a result. The South Australian position is also much hrghter. HOTELS TO CLOSE EARLY. Adelaide, May 16. The final result of the hotel closing referendum was 98,927 for six o'clock, a majority of 24.139 over all the votes for other hoars.
