H.M.S. NEW ZEALAND. Per Press Association. Wellington, May 13. Mr Massey lias received a letter from Mr T. Mackenzie, High Commissioner, stating that he hao received a letter from Captain Halsey, of H.M.S. New Zealand, in which CapStain Halsey said the silk ensign prejsented by the women of New Zealand flew throughout the action (the naval action in the North Sea, when the Hlucher was sunk), and if necessary, will lly again, though it is much reduced in size. Captain Halsey added that he kept all the old frayed-out bits, which ho is sending out to New Zealand. Mr Massey replied to Captain Halsey, stating that the pieces of tlie flag had been received. They revived many memories of the visit of the ship to the Dominion. The people, here followed with interest the New Zealand’s part in the naval war, and we have confidence that when the opportunity comes you and your officers and men will again give the enemy cause to fear the ship which hears our name. The remnants of the flag will he deposited in the Municipal Art Gallery in Timaru.
