A public meeting which was inaugurated to follow the King’s movement pledged itself to abstain from alcohol during the war. It was decided to apprise the King of the’ resolution. BEAUREPAIRE ENLISTS. At the court-martial on the looting charges Lieutenant Davidson was charged with stealing four German medals 'belonging to a person unknown. David. [ son said he took the medals from a I miscellaneous collection of stuff after one of the skirmishes at New Guinea as mementoes, He showed them to his commanding officer and other officers and was quite willing to hand thorn over to their rightful owner as sqon as his identity was established. After lengthy evidence was- taken, Lieutenant Davidson was found not guilty and discharged. Ernest Becker, a gem dealer, pleaded guilty to two charges of attempting to trade with enemy firms. He was lined £SO on one charge and £IOO on the other.
