INTERNMENT OF GERMANS WANTED. Per Press Association. Wellintgon, .May 10. A mooting of the executive ol the Now Zealand Patriotic Society adopted the following resolution:—“That this meeting enters its emphatic protest against the latest act of barbarism and murder committed by Germany in sinking the Lusitania, and pledges itself as a society and as individuals to render whatever service is in its or their power to bring about the punishment of the perpetrators of such hellish crimes. We are of opinion that the time has arrived when Germans and Austrians not naturalised, at present enjoying their liberty, and in some cases occupying good positions in the Public Service, should bo immediately interned and held as prisoners of war, and that the Government be asked to scrutinize carefully the conduct of naturalised British subjects.” NEW ZEALAND ITEMS. Wellington, May 10. Cabled adyice reached Wellington to-day that Mr. George H. Tinton, general manager for Australasia ol the Royal Insurance who was a passenger on the Lusitania, had landed safely and was in Dublin. Mr. Tinton is well known in New Zealand insurance circles. The Prime Minister forwarded the following telegram to his Excellency the Governor yesterday :—“1 shall he glad if your Excellency will be so good as to 'communicate by telegraph with the Secretary of State for the Colonies and ask him on behalf of tile Government and the people of New Zealand to convey to the people of the United Kingdom and especially to the relatives and friends of those who perish ed in the sinking of the Lusitania, New Zealand’s sympathy with them in the sudden and dreadful blow which has fallen and our horror and detestation of the foul and (dastardly crime which lias been connmAed (signed) \\* E. Massey.” Wanganui, May 10. At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce to-night the following resolution was carried:—“This meeting of Wanganui citizens expresses horror at the latest German outrage and while recording sympathy with the relatives ami bereaved urges the adoption of reprisals to prevent a recurrence of nch barbarities.” A copy of the resolution will he forwarded to the Premier.
