AMERICAN MEAT TRUST. United Phkbh association. (Received 9.13 a.in.) Sydney, May 11. The Premiers’ Conference discussed the question of tbc American Meat Trust, and it was resolved that steps In' taken to watch the operations ol the meat companies in Queensland and also that the Royal Commission, which inquired into the subject, bo approached by the Governments interested with a view to formulating a scheme ol action. POLITICAL SENSATION. Melbourne, May 10. A sensation has boon caused in political circles at the resignation of Mr Alfred Deakin and Mr Nielsen(the Commissioners at the Panama Exhibition). The reasons are withheld, but it is surmised the resignations are the outcome of strained relations between Mr Deakin and Mr Mahon (Minister for External Affairs). , The Federal Cabinet will consider the position to-morrow.
