The Borough Council mfeet this evening in the reading room of the Library. A Wellington Press Association message states that Matthew Livingstone, bookmaker, was fined £25 for street betting. 1 His Honor Mr Justice Hosking declined the application of M. W. Hill for an inquiry as to the validity of Ids committal to a mental hospital.— P.A. The members of the Petone family whose disappearance was reported to the police yesterday turned up in another suburb, reports the Press Association. The incident appears to have been the outcome of family differences. . Auckland Press Association reports: An eleven-roomed house at Ladies’ Mile, Ellerslie, owned by John Rountree and occupied by Charles Hunt was gutted by file early on Sunday morning. The furniture, which was destroyed, was covered by insurance for £3OO in the Victoria. Insurance on the House is unavailable. The origin of the fire is a mystery.
