HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT. Canterbury 7Jd for all weights; other than Canterbury 7|d for best quality, second grade 7 9-16 d. 1 Beefi —Very little frozen beef is available. Quotations are nominal. New Zealand hinds Ggd, fores 6Jd, Chilled, a moderate supply of hinds at 7gd, fores Old. i Butter, —The market remains firm, and a good demand continues for Colonial. Prices are firmer, on account of the small supply of Danish at 148 s to 1545. New Zealand butter lias been firm this week and the market has advanced 4s. New Zealand 138 sto 140 s, unsalted 140 s to 1445, Australian 132 s ( to 1365, Siberian 130 s to 1345, Irish creameries (little offering) 140 sto 1425, Argentine 132 s to 13Gs. | Cheese.— I The market is firmer. Canadian white 96s to 98s, colored 94s to 965. The New Zealand market closed firmer, with more inquiry for white and colored at 93s to 945. United States is in good demand, last season's make of white and colored 88s 1 to 925, this season’s white and colored 12s less. It is estimated the Canadian ! and United States cheese stocks at London, Liverpool, and Bristol on 3rd! May were 87,000 crates, being chiefly 1 United States flats, against 48,000 crates at the same time last year. New Zealand and Australian cheese stocks at London and Bristol on 3rd May were 19,000 crates, which amount does not include 1400 crates on the ;Kaikoura, which is docked, but has not I yet discharged, against 73,000 crates lat the same time last year.

.7 Hemp.—The market-ds firm, prices being slightly advanced for all grades nominally, transactions moderate. Now Zealand good fair grade £33, fair to £3l, fair current Manila £39 10s. Wool.—The market is weaker, with a downward tendency for crossbreds during the week, hut now there is a great improvement and the market is firmer for wools.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company,Limited, have received the following cablegram from their London house under date 6th instant. Sheepskins—For the following descriptions prices are lower. Combing merino farthing, crossbred half-penny, shorn penny.
