BAY OF ISLANDS SEAT.

Pkr Press Association. Auckland, May 9. A candidate in the Government interest in the Bay of Islands by-election will lie Mr William Stewart, of Kawakawa, having .wide interests as a general agent and farmer. Mr Stewart is a prominent figure in North Auckland. He is chairman' of the Bay of Islands County Council, and chairman 1 of the Bay of Islands Hospital ami Charitable Aid Board, having occupied the latter office since the inception of that hoard. He was a member of the Royal Commission which reported last year on the kauri gum industry, and he lias also acted in a number of other public positions. He will open his campaign immediately. it is understood the election is to ho held as early as possible.
