SHORTAGE OF SHIPS. Dargavillc, April 29. At a moating of the Kaipara chamber of Commoree hold to-day it was unanimously resolved: “I hat whilst cordially congratulating the Cabinet in coping so successfully with the I shortage ut oversea ships lor the j transport of the expeditionary forces j and in further providing for the enormous increase in our frozen produce, 1 that in view of the shortage of ships j for the carriage of frozen produce to Europe, steps he immediately taken to increase the numbers of bottoms for the carriage of frozen produce by chartering or purchasing or otherwise obtaining a supply of vessels to cope with the trade in future.’’ “This is the suit of thing we are iup against in this frozen meat export business,’ said the Prime Minister to a reporter yesterday. “Information has reached me to-day tliat the Ipdrabarah arrived in London on February (i, and completed her discharge of March 20. The Vessel took over I six weeks to discharge! Under ordiJnary circumstances, with the appliances available at an Engilsn port the work would have been done in six days The consequence is that the Indrabarah goes back a month in her sailing time from here, and the same things seems to bo happening all round,” HIGHER EDUCATION. McKenzie. H. J. Xightjngale, E. Pigott, K. Boss, E. M. Shirer, G. S. Struck, and A. r l. Thompson, subject to the payment of fees. The following are to be granted the diploma of honors in Arts:—Victoria College: B. X. T. Blake, M. C. Clachan, F. L. Combs, E. I’. Cox, E. Eitz-gcrakl-Eager, W. Heine, M. B. McKenzie, K. Boss, E. M. Shirer, and G. S. Struck.
The Degree of Master of Laws is to be conferred on the following:—Victoria College: J. Christie, G. Craig, H. J. V ine, and H. Williams.
The Diploma of Honors in Law will he granted to Vine and Williams.The Degree of Master of Science will he conferred o nthe following:Victoria College: F. L. K. Broadgate, who also received diploma of honor in science.
The Degree of Bachelor of Arts ,will be conferred on the following:—Victoria College: H. 11. Bowater, J. H. Cucldie', H. E. Fogelhcrg, W. M. Gill, A. J. Graham, G. M. Hammond, C. X. Haslam, D. C. Hunt. C. R. Lehndorf, J. S. Mursden, H. M. Alellor, M. E. E. Murray, E. P. Neale, E. M. North, L. J. Pilkington, A. H. Tocker, and R. L. Ziman.
The Degree of Bachelor of Science will ho conferred on the following:— Victoria College: N. C. A. Allen, I). McLeod, and M. C. Terry.
The Degree of Bachelor of Laws will be conferred on the following:—Victoria College: K. S. Caldwell. C. G. Harker, CK C. Mazengarb, J. A. Scott, H. Van Stavoren, and E. R. Tustin.
