No losses have been 'made on any of the Society’s investments. The Society has now lent to members of the First Group the sum of £25,251. As regards the Second Group, seven appropriations amounting to £ 1 ■!00 were made during the year, of which sum £BOO has already been advanced, and the balance is available as soon as satisfactory security is forthcoming. A profit of £lO9 I-Is Id was made in the Second Group, part of which w£nt to extin- ) guisli the debit balance of £-12 12s <d existing at the beginning of the year, leaving a balance of net profit at the epd of the year of £57 Is 6d. The Directors consider that this is a most satisfactory beginning for the new Group, in view of the fact that so few ■ appropriations have, as yet, been sold* 1 There are still a few shares available to the public in the Second Group at the price of £6 2s Od per share. Speaking generally, the past year has been, so far as the Society is concerned, satisfactory, and one of quiet progress. You will he required to appoint three Directors to fill the vacancies on the Board caused by the retirement. through effluxion of time, of ( Messrs W. F. Clemow, •). McAllister, and G. B. Wilson, who are, however, all eligible for re-election. Mr E. C. D. Lightbonrne also offers himself as a candidate for the Board of Directors. It will also lie necessary to appoint an Auditor for the ensuing year. Mr T. H. Penn again offers his services.
