MAORIS CO TO MALTA FOR GARRISON DUTY. I’eb X j kess Association. Wellington, April 24. The Prime Minister states that the destination of the Maori contingent will be Malta. When the services of the Maoris were accepted, it was thought they were to go to Egypt, but later, when things developed in Turkey, our field forces went to Egypt.and there has been some speculation as to whether the Maoris would join the main body at Cairo. It appears, however, they have been reserved lor garrison duty at Malta. MOUNT EDS BREAK CAMP AT LEVIN. Levin, April 24. The Wellington 6th. Mounted Regiment training camp at Levin Racecourse concluded today. Throughout the weather was fine, and the camp site being good and well kept, the discomforts ordinarily associated with a training camp were entirely absent. The men put in the full time at drill. At a farewell campfire concert held last night, Major Samuels, officer commanding, paid a high tribute to the conduct of the men in camp. When on leave the behaviour of the men was excellent, and gave not the slightest cause for complaint which was highly appreciated by the people of Levin. A surplus of £l2 was realised from a ini lita r v tournament in aid ol the pn/.e fund. which the men gave to the Belgian Relief Fund.
