NEW YORK'S IMPORTS AND EXPORTS. United Press Association, New York, April 23. Customs returns show that German imports for March were £1,269,000, as compared with £2,292,000 in March of 1911. Only £3131 worth was exported to Germany direct, hut the exports to Denmark and Sweden during March nearly doubled those of February, and Holland showed a 50 per cent, increase. Imports from Britain were only £60,000 less than in March of 191-1. * THE NEUTRALITY QUESTION. Washintgon, April 22. Mr Bryan, in reply to Count Bernstorff, regrets that the language in his memorandum was susceptible of being construed into the impugning American good faith. The Government would never yield any of its rights as a neutral to any belligerent. He regrets the assumption that the Government could prohibit the sale and exportation of arms to Germany’s enemies. Such prohibition would be a direct violation of neutrality, hence the Government was unable to consider it.
