INQUIRY INTO THE REBELLION. United Press Association. Capetown, April 22. During the debate on the Rebellion Inquiry Committee's report, Mr Merriman, who was a member of the committee, entirely acquitted General Hertzog of complicity in the rebellion, though bis speeches were primarily responsible. If a conspiracy existed, it was between Van Rensburg and De la Rev. The latter suffered from religious mania, which Van Rensburg worked on. Maritz was a traitor to both sides. Beyers was sane, but excessively ignorant and unfit for the position he held.
