General Sir lan Hamilton, G.C.8., D. 5.0., has been appointed Command-er-in-Chief of the Dardanelles expeditionary force. THE SPY MENACE IN ALEXANDRIA. Times and Sydney Sun Service. (Received 8 a.m.) London, April 22. Le Matin states that two women in Alexandria approached two French soldiers and tried to persuade them to desert. The police were informed, and it was found that the women Germans and members of a widespread spy system which had been organised in Alexandria. MINES IN SUEZ CANAL. , Cairo, April 22. Two Turkish mines have been recovered tfrom the Suez Canal, near Kautara. COLONIALS' EFFICIENCY. Lonlon, April 22. The Cairo correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says the colonials have developed faster and better than their best friends could have hoped. Tlieir military efficiency is now reckoned as high and they possess skill and courage of a high order.
