MISCELLANEOUS. United Pukbk Association Paris, April 21. Official: Fifty incendiary shells were dropped at Rheims. The operations are chiefly artillery duels along the whole front. Rotterdam, April 21. Many train-loads of German troops have arrived in Belgium. GIGANTIC FORTRESS OF LILLE. REPORTED PARTIAL RETREAT OF THE ENEMY. (Received 9 a.m.) Amsterdam, April 21. ft' is alleged that aeroplanes considerably damaged Lille, which lias been formidably reinforced. The space between Lille and the Belgian frontier has been transformed into a gigantic fortress, which can easily he defended. The British and Belgians, therefore, are endeavouring to attack in the rear. The Allies’ artillery compelled the enemy to evacuate several hamlets in the La Bassee region. It is reported that the enemy is preparing for a partial retreat.
