PERSONAL.
The deaths of Sir W. P. Manning and Mr John Wheeler, a Past Grand Master of the Loyal Orange Institution, are announced from Sydney. Mr G. Van Heck, the well-known musician, who lias been for some time resident in Stratford, lias just undergone a serious operation in Wanganui. County-Foreman ’Robinson’s resignation was accepted at the Council meeting yesterday, and it was resolved that he he paid £4 for his trap shed; and also that a reference be presented to him, stamped with the Council’s seal. Mr T. R. Anderson. Malice, has been appointed County representative on the Egmont National Park Board, vice Air W 7. Rogers, resigned, Speaking at the Council meeting yesterday, Cr, Anderson said that if anyone knew the Mountain better than he did—he had been round it and on top times innumerable—that man would lie bet-,' ter entitled to the position of representative. He thanked his fellowmembers for electing him and promised to work in the interests of all.
