AUGMENTING THE NAVY.
TWO FIRST-CLASS BATTLESHIPS BUILDING.
United Prebb Association. (Received 9.25 a.m.) London, April 19. ft has been announced in .Japanese official circles in London that Japan is augmenting her navy, and is now constructing two first-class battleships.
A NOTE FROM U.S.A. CERTAIN TREATIES WILL NOT BE RECEDED FROM. (Received 8.55 a.m.) London, April J!). China lias received a Note from the United States pointing out that the latter has certain treaties with China from which it does not intend to recede.
This is supposed to relate to tlio Chino-Japanese negotiations.
