WELLINGTON RACES. United Press Association. Trentham, April 14. The autumn meeting of the Wellington Pacing Club opened to-day at Trentham in hue weather. The course is good and there is a large attendance. Results;— First Hack and Hunters’ Steeplechase (handicap), of 200sovs., two miles.—Agatha Green 1, Nita 2, Merry Guy 3. Scratched: Grey Renown. The winner led all the way. Grit Lawless and Captain Flint did not finish. Merry Guy pulled up lame at the finish. Won by a length, a bad third. Time, smin 38 ,‘Fusee. New Zealand St. Leger Stakes, of uuOsovs., for 3-year-olds, colts 8.10, fillies arid geldings 8.7, one mile and three quarters.—Balboa. 1, Gastalia 2, Snapdragon 3. Scratched: Don Francisco. Snapdragon led until three furlongs from the post, and then was passed by Balboa, Castalia just beating Snapdragon for second place. Time, 3.7 1-5. Plunket Nursery PTandicnp, of 200 sovs., fiyp,furlongs.— -Hyglnas 1, Three 2, Taringamntu 3. Scratched : Gowanbrae. The winner drew away from a bunched field and won by a length, tl\e same distance between second and third. Time, 1.1 1-5. Thompson Handicap, of 65050v5., one mile.—Ladoga 1, Chortle 2, Hoy 3. Scratched: Downham, Red Book, Chudic. From a beautiful start, Pavlova drew away in the straight, but Ladoga wound his way through a bunched field, which was just headed by Chortle. Just; before the judge’s box was reached Ladoga shot to the front, winning by half a length, a length between second and third. Time, 1.39. 4-5. RESULTS AT AVONDALE, Auckland, 4 April 14. The Avondale Jockey Club’s Autumn Meeting opened in fine weather. The course is in good condition. Results: Maiden Plate, of ISOsovs., six furlongs.—Kauri King 1, Gallupin 2, Blueform 3. Scratched: Ruination, Goldcatcher, Bouvardia, Miss Avalanche. Won by three lengths. Time, 1 15 2-5. Juvenile Handicap, of 12550v5., five furlongs.—Golonade 1, Loyal Arch 2, Toratora 3. Also started; Lightning, Hailstone, Hero, Wartime, Glissando. Won by a length. Time, Imin 3 1-5. Oakley Handicap, of ISOsovs., seven fm longs.—Lady Middleton 1, Munster 2, Crown Pearl 3. Also started: Jolie Fillo, Tripoli, Sonltane, Try Fluke, Salvia, Delenda. Won by a neck. Time. 2 28 3-5.

Maiden Hurdles, of 130sovs., one mile and three-quarters.—Monathol 1, Master Regel 2, Elgallo 3. Scratched : Lnros. Won by two and a half lengths. Time 2.18 2-5.
