A TORPEDO THAT FAILED.
TUG MISSES SUBMARINE BY THREE FEET. United Frees Association. I (Received 8.55 a.m.) London, April 0. While the South Shields tug Homer was towing the French barque Sonis, grain-laden to Sunderland, a submarine ordered her to stop. The Homer waited till the submarine was abeam and then cast oh the hawser, and steamed at a speed of Hi knots straight for the submarine, but missed her by three feet. The submarine fired a torpedo, which missed, and then abandoned the pursuit, and torpedoed the barque.
