Starting sharp at 10 o'clock, Lambie won the toss, and Beale led off at the beginning, but Lambie played himself into 2. At the second head Lambie got another two, and was thus leading uy lour. At the third head Beale landed two. The ground was here des-

cubed as "tricky," the sun not having sufficient power to give the ground a good dry surface. Lam hie was laying a shot when Beale got right on the jack and the score was then, Lambie 4, Beal 3. At the sth head BeaJ lay 3, when Lambie got a nice bowl right there, but tailed to draw the shot, leaving Beale 1, the score being 4 all. Lambie's first two shots were somewhat too long at the sixth head, but got his third on the jack; Beal shifted the jack and lay one, but Lambie eventually scored two. In the 7th head, Beale got in one. At the Bth head Beale found the ditch. Lambie at the third shot was laying 11, when Beale got a beauty and lay the shot. Lambie, with his last bowl, which was fairly strong, struck Beale's bowl and scored one, the score now being Lambie 7, Beale 5. At the 9th head Beale scored 3. Both players wore now playing well, and at the next two heads Lambie lay olio and two, the score being Lambie .10, Beale 8. At the 12th head some good play took place, resulting in one to Lambie. Beale in the L3th bead started well, and at the third shot it was a measure as to who was leading, but Lambie eventually got 2. Lambie, at the 14th head, threw right on the jack, and Beale played a running shot and burnt the head. Beale played the first two shots well, Lambie being rather wide, and Beale scored one, the game now being Lambie 13, Beale 9. Both players in the loth head played well, Beale being lucky enough to get this head by one. Beale was leading at the 3rd shot in the Kith head, but Lambie played a beauty Which "wiokked" and got the shot. Beale's score was 10, as against Lambie's 14. After the 17th head, in which Beale scored one, the totals were 14—11. eßalc's first shot in the 18th head beat Lambie's, and Lambie's last shot was altogether too strong, Beale getting this head by one, making him 12 to Lambie's 14. Both players in the 19th head were well on the jack. Lambie scored one, making him 15 to Beale's 12. Both players at the 20th hand played well, and it was only the 'last shot which decided the victor, Beale gaining one. Beale, on the 21st head, earned applause as he got on the jack. Beale made some good shots, and at the close Lambie was 15, Beale 11. The sun now was very hot, which improved the green. Beale played particularly well, and a sugar bag would have covered the whole of the six bowls. Beale played a running shot, but was too narrow, while Lambie played just a trine short. The score at the close was: Lamoie Ifi, Beale 11. On the 23rd head Lambie's first two shots were well on the jack, Beale being too strong. Beale played a running shot, but only succeeded in displacing one, of Lambie's bowls, and

iit the close Lam hie was 18, ileal 14. On the 24th Lninbie laid his bowl there, and Beale was too strong, 19— 14. On the 25th head some good play was seen, and Beale got one which gave him 15. Lamhie played four howls to perfection, Beale playing rather too strong, and Lamhie scored two, making him the winner as against Beale 15, and the players shook hands amid applause. Air Smart handed the gold medal to Ah- Lamhie, expressing his great pleasure in doing so, and congratulating hoth players on their excellent play throughout. Three hearty cheers were given, and Mr Lamhie, in reply, congratulated the Stratford Club on their almost perfect ground, and thanked them all For their great kindness. The speaker, in true sportsmanlike spirit, said it was the biggest bit of luck be had ever had and he prized the honor ivery highly.
