AMUSEMENTS.

HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. A fair house greeted the new change of pictures last night, the leading feature being the "Adventures of Miss Tdmb'by." The comedy is interesting as well as funny, picturing many scenes of racing, steam yachts, motor boats, motor cars and aeroplanes. "The Latest War Gazette'' features new and novel incidents from the big war. The "New York Police Department Carnival" is one of the finest events ever secured, showing the greatest police carnival in the world in full swing. Two good comedies arc "When Men Wear Skirts," and "Harvey's Dull."

CHARLEYS AUNT. Saratford playgoers will shortly have an opportunity afforded -hem of witnessing a revival of Brandon Thomas' well-known comedy, "Charley's Aunt," which opens at the Town Hall, on Tuesday, April 1.3. The attempt made by Charley's bogus relative, at a critical juncture, to lill the breach caused by the non-appearance of his genuine aunt, and the subsequent persistent but ludicrous efforts of a pair of elderly admirers to woo the fair impostor, are the foundation for a long series of mistakes and surprises which are excruciatingly funny. The play is prolific in amusing situations winch keep the audience in a hilarious state of merriment from the moment the pseudo dame "from Brazil where the nuts come from" tenters upon the role imposition and deception until she ultimately works her undoing to the entire satisfaction of the parties concerned in her escapade's. As a sure antidote for the prevailing tendency to depression a visit to "Charley's Aunt" is recommended. "Charley's Aunt" proved so popular in the North Island that return visits are being arranged, noteably to Palmerston North, Napier, Wanganui, and many other towns. During the Wellington season over 10,000 people attended the performances at the Grand Opera House, whilst hundreds were unable to gain admission and had to be turned away. While on tour the members of the company have voluntarily lent their services wherever desired, to swell the Empire and Belgian funds, an action which has been greatly appreciated. The Box plan is now open at Grubb's. WITHIN THE LAW. Mr .1. C. Williamson's famous drama, "Within the Law," will be staged at the Town Hall,. Stratford, on Wednesday next, for one night only. On the occasion of the Dominion tour last year record business was done. The story is powerful, the action vivid and real and the atmosphere absorbing all the time. There are four acts. The first takes place in Edward Gilder's private office at the Emporium, the second in Mary Turner's apartments at Grainmercy Square, the third in Edward Gilder's office. Durin gthis act the curtain is lowered for one minute to indicate the passing of one hour. The last act discloses Inspector Burke's office at police headquarters. The place of action is all laid in New York and the maxim Silencer nw.. m. the production is furnished by the Maxim Silbnt Fire Arms Coy., of Hartford, Connecticut, U.S.A., and was specially constructed for use in "Within the Law." It is not allowed to be sold, as it is well known it would constitute a danger against mankind. The box plan, will be on view at T. G. Gruhb's, where seats may be reserved without extra charge.
