The High Commissioner reports, under date London, April 6, 2.40 p.m.:—

Petrograd reports successful progress* at certain points west of the Niemen on Sunday. In the- Carpathians, on ,the night of Friday and' Saturday, and on Saturday in the region of Bartfeld, there was fierce fighting with artillery and the bayonet. Twenty officers, more than 1200 soldiers, and two maphine-gun& were captured. Progress was made on the front Mezqlaborez-Czok. We captured during the day 25 officers, more than 2000 soldiers, and three guns. We occupied the railway station at Tsisna and captured engines, coaches, and a great stock of ammunition, and part of a provision column.

tnere was desperate fighting on Saturday and Sunday near the village of Okna, north of Czenowitz. We took more than a thousand prisoners the Austrians had left behind.
